Japanese Expo delegation praised

A senior organizer of the Shanghai 2010 World Expo praised the Japan Pavilion team on Friday for their outstanding management and the speediest construction of a pavilion.

Hong Hao, director of the Bureau of Shanghai World Expo Coordination, said the efficient management of the Japan Pavilion had set an example for others when he welcomed Hirofumi Katase, the director of Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, which is responsible for the pavilion.

Hong hoped Japan's exhibition will be a huge attraction and pledged every support for the country's participation.

Katase said construction workers are still enthusiastic and the Japanese side will continue the momentum for a successful Expo.

The 24-meter-high Japan Pavilion, which sits on a 6,000-square-meter plot, is the largest and most expensive Japan has built for a World Expo. The pavilion is a semi-circular structure, covered by a purple membrane material. Several antennae and caves will make the pavilion a "breathing organism," which will express the harmony between the human heart and technology.
