SKF magazine takes notes of Expo

Zhou Hanmin, deputy director of the World Expo 2010 Shanghai Executive Committee, elaborates on Expo's significance as well as how officials have countered the impact of the financial crisis in an interview with Evolution.

A senior organizer of the 2010 World Expo elaborated on Expo's significance as well as how officials have countered the impact of the financial crisis in an interview with Evolution, Sweden-based business and technology magazine today.

Zhou Hanmin, deputy director of the World Expo 2010 Shanghai Executive Committee, said hosting an Expo is an opportunity for China's development and 241 countries and international organizations have so far confirmed participation.

The organizer is committed to a green event, therefore eco-friendly materials will be used in its structures, Zhou told Evolution. He noted that green area will account for 37 percent of the site.

Advisory body gives Expo tips

The city's top advisory body has proposed that the World Expo 2010 organizer provide timely and frequent information on visitor flow via television, radio or short messages during the event to relieve possible overcrowding at the Expo site.

The Shanghai Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference suggested in session on Monday that the organizer remind local residents to reschedule their visit by sending short messages or broadcasting real-time information on TV or radio if the number of daily visitors surpasses 800,000 or more, which will make the site overcrowded.

Screens at the Expo site providing real-time information on visitor flow at some popular pavilions were also advised, as well as some performances for visitors waiting to enter pavilions so that they won't get bored and restless.
