Concept: The Balancity will demonstrate the importance of equilibrium and harmony between modernization and preservation, innovation and tradition, urbanization and nature, community and the individual, work and leisure, and between globalization and national identity.
Location: Within Zone C of the Expo Site, at the south bank of the Huangpu River, adjacent to the Lupu Bridge

Exhibition Highlight:
Visitors will be accompanied by two virtual narrators, Yan Si and Yan Yan, during their travel of discovery within the Germany Pavilion.
Highlight 1:
The exhibition hall “Image of Seaport”, with Hamburg’s HafenCity as its blueprint, will demonstrate a pioneering urban development project, which preserves old buildings while incorporating modern architectural elements to endow the city with a brand new image and enhanced quality of life.
Highlight 2:
“Invention Archives” will be packed with German-designed innovative products that are displayed on the conveying belts in different layers.
Highlight 3:
“Future Planning Studio” will showcase the large-size design drawings, building models, drafts and urban traffic planning maps on the floor and wall, introducing future design and city life styles to visitors.
Highlight 4:
The exhibition hall “Source of Energy” is the main part of the pavilion, which will accommodate a metal sphere where German-developed creative ideas and concepts around the Expo theme will be presented.
