The Expo City Star campus campaign was launched at Shanghai Jiaotong University's Minhang Campus today.

The China Communist Youth League's Shanghai Committee, China Youth Daily and Coca-Cola Co organized the event under the authorization of the Bureau of Shanghai World Expo Coordination.

Zhou Hanmin, deputy director of the World Expo 2010 Shanghai Executive Committee, said at the ceremony that Expo 2010 would attract an estimated 70 million visitors. He said that university students will be important promoters for Expo and he expressed hope that university students could try their best to lead more young people to support the world fair.

The campaign includes both an Expo 2010 university student reporters contest. Another contest is for a university student environment protection scheme.

The reporters contest will involve hundreds of universities in China. The innovation contest was launched on April 28 and has collected more than 7,000 pieces of innovative works. The later contest will generate 200 winners.

Organizers of the campaign said that about 300 winner will be named Expo City Stars. The winners will be invited to tour the Expo site.
